I started looking for Award Winning Children’s Books as I ran out of books to read to my own kids.  There are many awards out there and children’s book awards are given to authors and illustrators of books and poems by various book organizations like the American Library Association (ALAAward Winning Children's Book Medals and Awards), the Association of Book Sellers for Children, and the American Booksellers Association.

In researching and developing this list, I also found that book awards and medals are given out in many different categories, such as,  children’s age groups, where the book was published, who the author was, the list goes on and on.   In addition, many different sources ranging from libraries to literacy and special interest organizations.

The selection process for determining an award winning book or an honor book also widely varies, ranging from a few choice people to choice awards via online voting.

The books you find here are mainly US national awards (as there are just as many regional book awards and non-US book awards) and have been the ones I have come across in searching online and visiting book stores. I hope you find this list useful and please let me know if I’ve missed an award.
